I was perusing around looking for info on my Chinese Zodiac sign, I'm a Metal Monkey, when I came upon this little tidbit about me. I've italicized the juciest tidbit. Read on:

Metal Monkey

Drive carefully to avoid accidents. Beware of what you say - you tend to offend other people. Your studies are good.

I couldn't help but see the irony. Can you?

Hahaha, I can't believe it took me weeks to notice that I had put 2001 instead of 2002 below the "Archive" header on the left. Sheesh.

Back in Redhat 7.2, will probably install windows soon. It's just that simple. Sad, but simple.

Well, the Drama concerning Jeremy and his wife and the comments there-in seems to have died down. Never in a million years did I think that would cause friction and/or backlash. Call me nieve, but hell, I was suffering with an awful sinus infection, wrote it in the midst of a Mind-Crushing Headache, and never thought twice about it. Sometimes the truth really is stranger.

Well, it's nice to see Jimmy updating his blog again. Wow, the DiVinci sleep schedule? That's hardcore shit right there. I doubt I could handle such a thing, but from Jim-dog, well, I wasn't surprised, let's just say that :)

Hmm. Work is going strangely. Most specifically I'm kinda burnt out on it. When I go into work, it's get-it-done get-it-done get-it-done-NOW all the time. No slack, no rest, no FUN. Yesterday Travis called Vicki in for a pow-wow about work and how Travis was assigned a stuffing envelopes job that he couldn't possibly finish before 5PM. Well, he asks me to help and I say "Well, I wish I could help." Not meaning to be a dick or anything, I was just saying. I really was busy. Anyway, long story short, Vicki tells me that I'm not as outgoing/vibrant as I used to be and Travis generally whines about how he's getting stepped on and I'm shovelling shit off on him. Ya know why? BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME TO DO IT. He does. Simple as that. It's menial shit, sure, like sending back manuals we don't want for example, but damn, it's not like he has anything better to do. It's not like he's got computer skills. He wouldn't know TCP/IP from LMNOP, know what I'm saying?

Anyway, last night I was pretty depressed, thinking about how utterly tired I am of the job I'm doing. I've got at least a dozen things that have to be done weekly, triple that number is how much stuff I have to get done monthly. This doesn't include the daily work, the daily problems, etc etc. They tell me I"m going to have a 7am-4pm schedule, working on PCs only, but I'll believe it when I see it. I don't know. Part of me wants Travis gone but still he's been there a month and even if he can only follow A-to-B-to-C instructions, and has no idea of what he's actually doing, it's nice to have someone capable if you're covered up. I don't know. Vicki said would it help if she made him full time. "Well, yeah," I said. Having someone there doing the menial shit all the time is great, I mean, you know, peons are good for something. I know. I was one for almost four years, and even now I'm just Head Peon.

Anyway, I've gotten one bite on Monster.com so we'll see how that works out.

Gotta go to work now and after I'll be tackling K-town in an effort to see Star Wars. At the very least I'll see About a boy, I heard it was a damn fine flick and I'm jazzed.

Well, there's the news. Everyone take care of yourself.

Well, Debian turned out pretty shitty. I tried to install and instead of booting into an installer interface, the damn thing acts like an Emergency Boot floppy. Ugh. Now I'll have to do some serious reading on how best to install.

Hmm. Interesting mail today (yup Jeremy, you seen it coming...) about my comments on Jeremy's wedding. I'm not going to post the email or whatever, but I felt horrible in the impression that I gave. The impression was (you can read around the April 27th area to find my post) that I hated it, and that I couldn't wait for it to end. Well, that was wrong and I'm here apologizing for that stupid crap I bitched about. Negativity sells, and negativity is easier to write about (in song or print, mind you) than positivity. Anyway, I'll say here for the record I did have a great time and enjoyed the ceremonious nature of the event. I hope to one day renew my vows to my lovely wife Ericka and hope that my buds (Jeremy, Jimmy, Tony, and the others who I haven't mentioned) will help in the cause.

So, yeah, this is an apology paragraph, but it needed to be said.

Anyway, now I'm staring down the barrel of a workout and am a bit intimidated. Why should I be? I don't know. But either way, I'm going over there and working off this new spare tire I've acquired (dear god, did that HAVE to rhyme?). We'll see how it goes later.

By the way Jimmy, just today I finally got all of the Debian ISO's burnt and will install them later this evening. I'm interested in the result.

Also on the Linux front, I've started downloading Mandrake to see what a "User Friendly" Linux supposed to look like. Of course, I always thought Redhat did a fine job, but who knows, maybe Mandrake is better in that department.

Peace.

Um, Jimmy? Update your blog. Thanks.

Anyway, the trip was boring and most of what I "learned" came from other people and their own bank experience. It was interesting to know that we have come along pretty far in comparison, and I thought we were well behind.

The room service food sucked and usually cost $40 or so each meal. One waiter stunk so bad I had to back up when I opened the door.

Leaving the big city there were two cops working in conjunction to Maximize Penalty Income. One stood by the Interstate holding a radar gun and pointed out the assailants to the cop still in his vehicle. Let's just say I got me a nice big ticket and still need to call and find out how much it is. At least it's a county cop and not state, but damn, I really didn't need a ticket.

On the plus side I'll be making $177 on mileage alone. I also arranged to sell some stock today, 30 shares at $13 a pop (that's $390 for the folks at home). So, considering I'm making $177 + $390 ($567), today is turning out pretty good.

Tonight I tackle the gym for the first time in months. Unfortunately, it shows. You see, the married man, especially the married-to-a-pregnant-woman man, gains a lot of weight because he likes to eat when his pregnant wife eats. This unfortunately packs on the pounds and its time I unpacked them.

Star Wars comes out today and you better believe I'll be up at K-town tonight searching for tickets. My luck they'll be all sold out. My life runs that way, you know.

Anyway, time to get some day-to-day shit finished. I've also posted my resume at Monster, so if you search for Morristown or my name or whatever you can find it. Any hints, suggestions, etc, please give me note because I need more cash :)

Adios

So I have to go away for three days. I need to pack, seeing as I got up an hour too early this morning. But anyway.

Yesterday was quite a day. I think I deserve some sort of Husband Award for it. You see, not only did I put together the battery-powered swing for Annie, I also assembled the Three-In-One Basonet/Changing Table/Bedside Sleeper. Also, we have my mother and my in-laws over. I cleaned the kitchen (washing dishes, wiping everything off, etc etc), cooked, made salad, lasagna, and baked garlic bread, then after the meal was over I cleaned again. And yes, I would like to thank the academy.

Anyway, here I am, still in linux but now with Enlightenment enhancements. It's pretty and all, but still.

Well, the trip will leave me in Nashville for two nights, me returning on Wednesday. Expect a very boring update then too, since this is all work stuff. So, there's the news. I'll cya in a few days. Everyone be good to one another ;)

One more thing. I think I've come to the conclusion that AbiWord is the best open source project I've come across in terms of Office Applications. No I haven't tried KOffice or Star Office, but still, it's a damn neat program that's totally open source and is nice and neat. It's suggested checking out (and yes, it even has Windows binaries).

G'night (again)

Evan Erwin from URL @ 1:59 AM

FUCK! This is the second time I'm writing this so I'll keep it short and sweet.

Here are the headlines:

Today we went to K-town, ate at this great restaraunt (Backyard Burgers) and got clothes from the sister-in-law, picked up the neice to stay the night, and saw the brother-in-law who is going away to Seattle for the Navy tomorrow.

Mom and mother-in-law will be here tomorrow so that should be fun. (/sarcasm)

Anyway, fixed cookies tonight with Marissa (neice) and they were damn good (can we say peanut M&Ms ya'll?).

Linux and its dependencies get on my nerves. Just package after package needed to get something running. Want to run a game? Everything turns into a challenge. To run a game you need a certain library. To get that library you have install the binaries first. To install the binaries you need to upgrade other packages and THEN after installing the binary it turns out you installed a version that was TOO current (seriously, this happened). And on, and on, and on. I don't know if Debian solves the problem, is seems too damn rampant to me, but maybe it'll get a little easier.

Anyway, I'm tired and its time for bed. I'll cya tomorrow.

G'night.
