I swear to God sometimes poetic justice is just criminally pathetic. I get the fucking MySQLMan working, the whole web interface to MySQL if you forgot, and I'll be damned if we now need my new Redhat 7.2 machine for a new teller coming in this week. Sheesh. And is it me, or am I the only one who, everytime I type Redhat, I type Redhate and have to fix it? Hrm. Random thought.
Spider-fucking-Man ya'll. That's what I'm talking about. Ericka is working until 8pm tonight so I can't go (I'd be home too late, she goes to work at 8am tomorrow morning, etc etc), but I can still catch a showing tomorrow and you better believe I'll be there.
Also of note, but not really that much so, my friend finally found a place to live in KY. I'm happy that he and his new wife are happy, and that everything is going well now.
Man, I'm still floored by the fact that all that work into Redhat (Redhate...dammit...) will now go unrelinquished. But dammit, now that I have the Linux bug again (I had it three years ago and that's how our interoffice email works now) it'll be a cinch to throw together a bitch box (tm) and whip that puppy into shape. KDE is nice, but fuck, you need a machine with Hella Horsepower (tm) to do anything with it. Gnome included, though I didn't bother installing it. And don't get me started on Enlightenment.
Well, now its time to finish up work and head off to another wild weekend. Updates will probably be provided, given the fact that I'll be writing quite a bit this weekend, most likely a rewrite to the Smashing Pumpkins DVD review I churned out and I really want to give something to my good buddy Chris over at FilmThreat.
Until next time.

Well, the first/second-ish draft of the DVD review for The Smashing Pumpkins Video Collection is done and I'm glad. It's nice to have something accomplished, and that reminds me...
I got MySQLMan working this evening and I was overjoyed. It took, literally, days to find out that you need the "libs" rpm package for MySQL to get the file that was requested. Though I searched for it on RPMFind, the elusive file finally showed up elsewhere, though I'd be damned if I could tell you where. Anyway, the web interface works so that is a Very Good Thing. Next I get to incorporate it into web forms, something I just can't wait to get started on [/sarcasm]. Anyway, it's nice to accomplish little things, such as reviews (it's been almost a month since my last at DVDAngle and more since FilmThreat) and Linux stuff. Linux is one hard-ass operating system, giving you very little leverage but again that sense of intangible triumph you'll find nowhere else.
Anyway, that's life. And Jimmy, if you're reading, update your damn blog already. G'night everybody.

So I've installed Redhat 7.2. It's running KDE and man, is that shit slow on a p200 with 32MB of ram. Anyway, then my sendmail fucked up on my original linux box, forcing me to download the latest sendmail-cf rpm and re-copying my sendmail.cf in the /etc directory. Why? I'm not sure. Some upgrades evidently ruined my configuration and my relay specs. Luckily everything seems to be going all right, but then again my dns server entries aren't to hot either (giving me some strange errors).
By the way, go check out my bud Jimmy's (aka Crucifax) blog. Some really interesting stuff there, sort of a "Diary of an insomniac" type feel going on there.
Last night I cooked some steaks and mac'n cheese and it was all good. Since Ericka will be working tonight I'll finally get some writing time in, I've got a wish list I need to send to DVDAngle as well as a review of the Smashing Pumpkins video collection. A good, if not haphazard, DVD. Unfortunately it's a fairly complicated DVD, insofar as menus and layout, so the review might be just as intricate. We'll see if I can get it hammered out in 3 hours, my allotted time for such a project.
Speaking of projects I still need Premier 6.0 to do anything with quicktime audio+video files that my bud sent me to cut his trailer. The only file he has is 280+ megs for a full screen trailer. The authoring is off, but I don't know where my Premier is and my aforementioned bud Jimmy doesn't either. Hrm.
Well, I got my reservations set for the night of the 13th and 14th where I'll be off to the Atlanta Airport Hilton for a few nights' stay. I was also going to be in the Nashville area (wassup my newlyweded bud Jeremy!), but that had to be cancel for fear of labor going on that May 20th. I also need to get directions to that hotel now that I think about it...
Anyway, that's the latest and greatest. I'd love to pound out a few words for my buds on FilmThreat, so we'll see if this evening I can whip up something interesting.
Until next time.

I have given up trying to get any MySQL web applet (most specifically MySQLMan) because of the libraries and libraries of shit that I had to crawl through. So, basically, it's time to get a new version of Linux and slap that puppy on my little Bitch Box in the closet. If anyone knows the best way to convert a system over, including DNS and whatnot, please let me know. I know you have the /etc/users and /etc/groups and the various configruation files, including but not limited to sendmail.cf and access.conf (for Apache), but nevertheless. It is of note however that I found a great resource for learning web authentication through Apache, but unfortunately I still need a decent web applet to use mysql fully, and hence the ISO download I'm about to commence.
Last night I said I'm slacking, but maybe I wasn't clear enough. Basically I'm slacking in everything but work. Work, as it stands, is going very well and I have been putting heart + soul into this Linux/database thing. However, this takes away from creative endeavors, so those will come to the forefront tonight. Of course, tonight I also have to go find a car for Ericka, so we'll see how that turns out.

I'm slacking. It's evident. I'm gaining weight, I'm missing deadlines, I'm not writing. I'm slacking again, and it's not a pleasant feeling.
Went to the doctor today (well, okay, the "Care Clinic" after work) and got some medication for my sinusitus. My head has been killing me, as shown by yesterday's Marathon Headache which lasted long into the night and helped me wake up with a sore throat and nausea all morning. The illness, at least, has bought me some time with my deadlines. They can wait, as it goes right now. Tomorrow me and Ericka get to go look for a car. Better still, since it's the last day of the month you have the car dealer's by the balls. They desperately want to sell another car or fifteen to get the end of month reports looking nice. We'll see how that goes.
Saw K-Pax (again) on DVD yesterday with some friends of ours over pizza. Of course the neighbors had to come over and bitch about it, something that is becoming a somewhat weekly ritual. Good flick though.
Anyway, time for Seuss reading to my baby in utero and sleep. Also, lastly, I finally got MySQL working. More on that tomorrow, but where oh where was the mysqladmin program? In the fucking client. Not the server, but the client. How much sense does that make? G'night.

Jeremy's wedding. Sheesh. What a strange cirumstance that
was.
Firstly? I didn't have my tux. I was under the (wrong)
impression that Jeremy, Jimmy and Chad were going to bring it with them
when they showed up, but no dice. Instead, when I got there I was informed
it was still at the hotel room that Jeremy was utilizing and so a fury of
movement and 20 minutes later, I (basically) had the tux on, cufflinks and
whatnot not withstanding.
The event was fine, and only the "car
decoration" got things out of hand. After the car
decoration was completed, Jeremy's (expletives deleted) mother in
law had her little say about what she thought. Firstly she was upset that
her little boy didn't get to run the show. Aww, it just breaks my heart
that a ten year old doesn't get his way all the time. Secondly, the
shaving cream got on the paint, and that was Chad's doing. I know I wasn't
about to put shaving cream on paint, but anyway.
My head is
pounding. It has ever since this morning, when I did some halfway
strenuous. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. Whatever this is, it has to
get out of my head. I'm pretty sure it's a sinus infection w/o the
drainage. My head is packed, my sinuses hurt, the headache that is going
on as we speak is making things difficult. Dear God, I can barely keep my
head on straight.
Anyway, some friends are over so lets go
entertain. I'll update later possibly. Cya This posting has been
modified for your safety (051702)
