Three Powerful New Mechanics Introduced - Recursion, Blink, and Training

Recursion

The first of these new mechanics is Recursion. Here is the official rules text regarding Recursion:

Recursion (When this creature goes to the graveyard from play, put a token creature into play under your control of the same type, color, power and toughness as that creature)

This new mechanic is incorporated in several powerful new creatures and is provided by effects and enchantments. Feel free to test out this powerful ability and how it acts in regards to other powerful spells such as Death Cloud and Wrath of God to see its full effect!

REMEMBER: Recursion does NOT copy the effects or the abilities of the creature copied this way. Keep this in mind as you read over and play the set.

Here are a few sample cards to show you what you may be faced with in terms of Recursion:

Here is a creature and a spell which both show the flexibility of the mechanic:

Blink

The second and even more engrossing mechanic is Blink, a powerful ability that allows you to not only bluff your opponent, but to enable powerful cards to come into play for free. You may put creatures into play temporarily, or play powerful spells for no cost.

This mechanic is placed on Creatures, Instants, and Sorcery cards. All Blink cards are associated with the basic lands of that color.

Here is the official wording of Blink as it would be written on a white creature card:

Plains Blink (You may put this creature into play anytime you could play an instant for no cost if you control an amount of Plains equal or greater than its converted mana cost. It gains haste and is removed from the game at end of turn.)

And now for your perusal, here are a few creatures and spells which illustrate this mechanic:

Training

In the halls of the Gen'dai and the plains of the Marzan, their warriors have become especially adept at combat. For this reason, they have attained a special ability called "Training". This mechanic is only present on white cards for this reason.

Here is the Official Rules text on Training:

Training X (All combat damage dealt to this creature from each source is reduced by X.)

REMEMBER: Much like Bushido, Training is cumulative. This means if two seperate effects provide Training 1, then all combat damage from each source is reduced by 2.

Here are a few cards which share this mechanic:
