Family Matters, Week of 2-4-07
Every week I write about my family. Welcome to it.
Hello everybody, welcome to another family update. I got my copy of The Blogging Church in today, and I am flattered beyond belief. Brian Bailey said some fantastic things about myself and covered our (admittedly offbeat) relationship extremely well, including the one with Gary, Pimp Pastor Extraordinaire (PPE).
I'll be sure to read it over the next week and have something for you next Friday. Fun stuff, I tell you. Anyway:
Annie (4yr Old Vista)
Annie is getting closer and closer to The Elementary School Years, and just
this week Ericka began printing worksheets from various websites for her to work on.
The one that surprised me the most was the worksheet on How To Use Scissors. I mean, at this point in my life it's understood how scissors work and their exact use. I even figured out how to slice through wrapping paper using the right angle. But the babe? She needs a little help. And it's beyond fascinating.
Annie also enjoys the idea of being a model when she grows up (see the pic), no thanks in part to Ericka watching America's Next Top Model religiously (beware when there is a marathon weekend, for no other TV will be watched). I don't care for the show at all, as I can see catty too-skinny women anytime I want by going to the local mall. But Annie does love to pose, that's for sure.
Abby (2yr Old OSX)
Abigail, on the other hand, doesn't like to model, but definitely has the good looks for it (this may be the dad talking, but still, she's cute as a button, ain't she?).
Ericka mentioned the other day about possibly sending in some headshots to children modeling agencies. Gulp.
It's also fascinating to see Abby's accelerated development in contrast with other kids. While other two year olds can't say a word, Abby is telling me exactly how she wants her chocolate milk ("Make it good daddy!") or the shirt she wants to wear that day. It makes me a little sad while I can't help but beam with pride.
She's going to be the scholar of the two, just you wait.
Ericka (her myspace)
Ericka has recently been spending a bit of time with my brother in law Sean's wife Misty, who is pregnant with their first child. Sean is stuck on a boat in the Navy (if he reads this, hey buddy!), but is due to be a father in May to a baby girl set to be named Kaitlyn Madison (cute, eh?). So it's nice that Ericka can spend some quality time with her pre-kid.
Ericka is also at a loss as to what to get Abby for her birthday. With her Super Jiggawatt Par-tay to happen in a few weekends over at Events at Sherlake (which is hella fun, btw), we don't know what to cap it off with. I vote for a Big Wheel because, well, Big Wheels are awesome, but I'm open to suggestions.
Ericka seems to have her mind set on another pet. And here after I worked so hard to get rid of the previous family pets: The Bird Who Can't Stop Singing and The Cat Who Is Always In Heat.
Wish me luck in shooting this one down.

In the light they both look the same

Good to hear you've liked what you've seen so far, Evan. I'm glad that story is part of the book. I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you're done. Take care!
