Embarking
My friend Tony is about to embark on something great. Not only is he leaving the country to teach others, he's leaving his job, his life, his "comfort" as it is defined by American society.
His destination? Costa Rica. Not exactly paradise, but it's not exactly Ethiopia either. He's going down there to teach English, learn Spanish, and quote unquote "Get Into Adventures." I can only imagine what those adventures may entail.
I can imagine that some of them will include ridiculously hot women who will fawn over an American dude who just went from My Size to Runs In Marathons (just let your imagination fill in the possibilities.) It's like the Biggest Loser, except without that really cool reveal.
To commemmorate his leaving the country for Who Knows Exactly How Long, myself, my buddy Jeremy and Tony have a Super Duper Awesome College-esque Road Trip coming in early February. This is the sort of Last Hurrah of his pure Americanism, soon to be tainted by warm ocean breezes, tanned & delicious babes, or whatever it is they have in Costa Rica.
I'm sure it's all sunshine and puppies down there, mixed with a splash of gorgeous women. Don't you just love travel guides? Of course there's no ghettos in third world countries silly!
So not only does Tony have a kick ass new blog site, he'll be delivering his true and probably shocking tales to us while he's there.
I was going to write this on Friday, but then I got all derailed and before you know it there were interesting conversations about it everywhere. I for one appreciate and encourage such feedback. Good or bad, it's always enlightening.
And of course, Gary and Brian are class acts. Gary let me know that I have some pages in The Blogging Church devoted to my interactions with him (or Brian? I'm not 100% sure), and then Brian emailed and offered me a copy!
I can't wait to read it and I'll be sure to post my thoughts on it here for all to see.
And if I fall into the drink,
I will say your name, before I sink

Evan,
I read the conversations. I disagree with you about this particular topic, but you certainly know how to get people talking:-)
Hope you have a good week and look forward to reading the mentioned post.

Your story to Ericka is that your driving somewhere to get chicken......LMMFAO! It is truly amazing what people will believe.
Thanks for the write-up and the kind words. There are many upcoming adventures, indeed! I'm looking forward to our roadtrip and the "chicken" ;)
