Family Matters, Week of 12-3-06
Abby (2yr Old Wonderpet)
Abigail is back home and looking much, much better. The wound on her bottom is covered by what equates to a large band-aid at this point, and while she was Hella Grumpy(tm) yesterday, freaking the hell out if I tried to put on her pajamas (it was mom-only last night), she was her usual sweet self this morning.
As I watched her sleep last night, I whispered, "You can be as mean as you want baby, I'll just love you from far away." And I meant it, no matter how cheesy that sounds.
It feels really great to have the babes back home. One of those you-don't-know-what-you-got moments come to life.
Annie (4yr Old YouTuber)
Annabelle, on the other hand, was not ready to come home. She wanted to hang out over at Nana's house (Ericka's mother's) and I was ready to take her home. Ericka said her mother wanted Annie to stay, but four days anywhere beyond a vacation is just too damn long. Not to mention, Annie gets free reign over there, and I wouldn't want to come home to Dad Rules either.
But come home she did, and sick she is. I swear to God it's like plugging holes in a dam with your fingers. One is stopped, another starts. Annie has been puking up a storm, brought to fruition yesterday as Abby snuck into the kitchen, got Annie a hot dog, and gave it to her.
Hot dog chunks were reported all over the house and bathroom a mere hour later. Yum.
She's beginning to feel better (it looks like a 24-hour food poisoning thing), so we'll see which finger we'll need to plug up the dam next.
Ericka (her myspace)
Ericka has been doing no less than Superhero duty at the hospital, sleeping on--literally--a concrete surface covered with a thin layer of padding. While I was at the hospital with Abby earlier this week, Ericka ran home to shower and get some clothes. Abby passed out into a nap and so I took one as well.
After only a few hours napping my shoulder was aching and my back hurt. And that was from a few hours. Ericka stayed in that godforsaken place for four days. Worse, there are families who are in that Children's Hospital for much, much longer. Talk about counting your blessings...
Otherwise, we're in Moving Mode right now. I've taken a total of 12 trash bags full of junk out of the house, and when you consider we have about 1000 square feet (or less, I don't really know) of apartment space, that's a lot of junk. Part of me appreciates the fact we can simplify our life by getting rid of junk like this, and the other part dreads moving in freezing temperatures.
Time waits on no man, even a geeky one, and neither do lease agreements.
Until next week, YouTube has officially gone to the spammers:
When you're dreaming with broken heart
Giving up is the hardest part
