Family Matters, Week of 11-5-06

Every week I write about my family. Welcome to it.

Annie (4yr Old Stickerlover)

Annie and me have had a few sing-a-long moments this week with my acoustic guitar. I found a full set of Martin strings in my computer desk and wah-lah, my acoustic guitar rides again.

Her current favorites include the fray, "Over My Head" and "How To Save A Life." I have Ultimate Guitar to thank for the great tabs of such.

Another evening or so later, Annie was dancing to whatever song I was playing at the time. Ericka turned to her and said, "Do you like Daddy's singing?"

"I love music," she said.

Too cool, that girl of mine.

Abby (2yr Old Balloon Maker)

Abigail, likewise, enjoys dad's singing, but is more into the DS right now. There are some really cool, simple games in the New Super Mario Bros. game. A memory game, the Pictochat, etc.

Which was a lot of fun, of course, until she 'misplaced' the stylus. Oops.

Meanwhile, the Battle O' The Sisters goes round and round, as one sister will push another, one will pull another's hair, and dad will have to step in the middle to sort things out. It's interesting the viciousness of toddlers and little girls.

Ericka (her myspace)

Me and Ericka have had an incredibly emotional week as our good friends AT go through what can only be described as "Hell". If it exists, it's probably something akin to the love of your life getting an unknown illness of which destroys organs and whose subsequent damage is untold as of right now.

Me and Ericka would stay up late and get up early to check on the latest updates, cry when he cried, laughed when he laughed.

While this is going on Ericka's own mother is now at home after a few of her own hellish days in the nursing home. I don't think a kind word can be given to a place whose workers are at best bored and at worst negligent beyond belief. Anyway, she's back home and recovering. Ericka's helping her with her enormous pill quotient she was given, buying her some of those 7-day plastic boxes to help. Yeesh.

Take care, everybody. I'll get to see My Morning Jacket this evening at the Tennessee Theater with my buddy DJ and JRob. Should be super duper fun.
