Hyperadoration

When I was a kid, I was extremely excited for Sunday nights to arrive. Because late Sunday nights meant 120 Minutes, the weekly two hour show on MTV where the indie and the unwashed would peddle their wares to the unsuspecting geeks of the world.

Or, basically, its where all of the cool videos were. Before Smashing Pumpkins made "Today" a modern day classic with their incredibly cool ice-cream-truck-and-some-paint video, they had a sort of overexposed forest-y fest that was "Cherub Rock". Before it was cool to try and not feature the band (Peter Gabriel/Genesis videos notwithstanding), 120 minutes was there with the emo before emo was...well, emo.

One of my favorite videos ever is It's So Quiet by Bjork and directed by Spike Jones. Why mention this? Because the other day my bud Dan bought the complete video collections of Spike and Michel Gondry. Who is Gondry? He's the guy who made "Everlong" along with other famous videos like the "Fell in Love With A Girl" lego-infused White Stripes video.

But it is not those videos which get me all giggly--it is his Bjork work that is truly amazing.

Now, for one of my favorite songs and now favorite videos, watch and try to keep your jaw from swinging on its hinge:

[UPDATE: Full Video Now :)]

Love, love, love it. We sat and watched almost all of his current work the other night, and I can't wait to see more. Amazing!

I go through all this, before you wake up
So I can feel happier, to be safe up here with you

We've have the Jones, Gondry and Chris Cunningham sets for a year or two now. Most of my favorite videos are on those three.

The only show I was ever really into in MTV was Undressed. That was a pre-teen's dream. I gave up on that channel when they stopped playing good music.
