Family Matters, Week of 9-24-06

Every week I write about my family. Welcome to it.

Abby (2yr old Clairvoyant)

Three cheers for last week's champ! Abigail has had another week of peeing in her pull ups. From a girl who was once wearing diapers during every waking hour, this sort of backsliding is interesting and worrying.

While I've spoken on what we can do to fix it, at this point I'm resigned to watching her use the potty when we're near and buying pull ups when the other kids are around.

She was so used to be punished for peeing in her pull up she would come to me and say "I'm sowwie Daddy," over and over as she pulled them off.

I just don't have the gumption to punish my baby after this long of a time. We'll be hard on her later. Right now we'll just buy some more pull ups.

Annie (4yr Old Fashion Model)

Annabelle has an awesome imagination. Better yet, she has a fantastic grasp on the repurcussions of her actions.

For example, Ericka was putting them in bed one evening, and DBody Movin'ad wasn't around to tell the Princess Annie Story. So Ericka told them a few things to dream about. At one point she mentioned a river of chocalate they could swim in.

"I can't swim in that, I would get dirty!"

"But...there's showers nearby."

"Then I would get my dress wet!"

"Well," Ericka said, "you could take your dress off."

"Then I would get my panties dirty!"

And on and on it went. I tell you, if this is age four, things in the Erwin household are going to get real interesting real quick.

This reminds me I need an update to the Once Upon A Time post--Abby has officially been integrated into the proceedings, and the two main villains are now well established.

Ericka (her myspace)

Due to some fortuitous financial windfall, we had a few extra bucks and Ericka got to do what she had been wanting to do for months now: Get a new tattoo. After going through many choices, some of which made me actually gag, she decided on this picture:

Cute, eh? Used to have raindrops for eyes + mouth, but that was too creepy.

After an hour of intense work, she was left with the following excellent-looking tattoo on her left shoulderblade:

She added the butterfly.

Excellent, cool stuff. While she loves the tattoo and I think it looks hella neat (a technical term), the healing process is never fun. It's currently in the trying-to-scab-over phase, bookended by the itches-like-hell phase.

And she wondered why I wasn't crazy about getting another one.

For those who don't know, I've got a Libra symbol tattooed on my right bicep (or "Order" as I like to call it) .

Until next week, stay safe and rock hard.

Just how much did the Tatoo cost? I'm astounded that the money can be found for a waste like this, but $40 for antibiotics is a devastation blow to the finances.

Just why are your finances screwed up? Think about it.

BTW - I'm a Father of two (one's 2 and a half, ones 11 months) and I share one car with my wife (I catch the train / ride a biek to work), my PC is nearly 4 years old and PS3 is somethign i will miss out on AS THE MONEY IS BETTER SPENT ELSEWHERE.

Look after you family, look after your self and enjoy your toys when your kids don't need you so much.

An unexpected cost of medicine will throw a money wrench in most plans. Kids will always need. But eventually the kids will move out and move on. But that's what you use the regular ol' paycheck for.

When it comes to found money, unless it's enough to completely pay off any debts or save you from broken thumbs you don't use it for bills or regular expenses. You use it to treat yourself or more importantly treat the wife. Happy wife = happy life.

I'm sure there was a point in there.

Tattoo looks good. I had mine retouched in August and a new one started on my shoulder. I take it the bird was the "artist's" touch?
