Family Matters, Week of 8-6-06

Every week I write about my family. Welcome to it.

Annie (4yr old Traveler)

Annie is officially a Little Girl and is definitely out of the toddler stage of life. Her conversations are actual conversations, and she bucks at authority as much as possible.

Her trip to the land of Mississippi was good, by all accounts, and she liked going to the ‘beach’ (i.e. the lake there). She got a new bathing suit and said she missed her great-grandmother.

One big milestone: This Saturday is the first time Annie will be cheering for her football team, the Claxton Cowboys. She got her uniform last night, blue and white all over, and Annie is very disappointed that it doesn’t show her belly.

She’s watched Bring It On a few too many times.

Let’s note that just the fact that she’s watched Bring It On, period, is enough to make me uncomfortable.

But at 4PM this Saturday, I’ll be in the hot-hot heat (not to be confused) watching my little girl explain how she’s gonna stomp the whoopee outta you, the whoopee outta you…

Abby (2yr Old Biker)

Abigail is taking it easier this week, focusing rather on simply having fun and trying new stuff instead of worrying about cheerleading and all that.

She didn’t even lament the fact she doesn’t have a uniform, yet still must go to the practices with Annie. Of course, she can now goof off as she likes, but still. In a few years the whining will be turned up a notch, just you wait.

Until then she’s as cute and lovable as ever. There were no remarkable happenings in the two scant days she’s been back home, but I’m sure something will turn up by next week.

Ericka (her myspace)

Ericka braved the heat and the humidity and the unreal, raw hotness of Mississippi this week in order for her, the kids, and her mother to visit their Grandmother, pictured on the right there sans wife.

I even asked her if she had a single picture of the trip that included her. So far, no word.

I’m also bugging her about Boob Cake 2.0, which will be made in honor of my work, who requested it after I extolled the virtues of Boob Cake 1.0.

Fingers crossed.
