Awarding Excellence
Today at the company staff meeting I got an awesome surprise: My boss, who also announced he got a kick ass promotion to Vice President, gave me an Excellence Award for my website management for the company.
I don’t toot my own horn much, so give me some slack here as I continue on.
The award itself is a plague with a lightning storm pictured and the words “INNOVATION” below it. The innovation part has a little Despair-esque wording about how Innovation kicks ass, just in case you weren’t aware.
Below that, the personalized plate says: “Excellence Award Presented to Evan Erwin — Your Desire, Drive, & Ideas Fuel the {company name} Web Presence!”
(Note: I don’t discuss my employer on my website. I learned this lesson a long time ago)
Anyway, this award was presented in front of everyone, along with a flattering letter from my boss.
What can I say, I feel all humbled and honored.
The story went something like this: Almost two years ago, when I joined the company, the website was a disaster. Nothing was easy to find, the menu on the page kept changing from page to page, and e-commerce was non-existant.
Nowadays, a majority of our business is fueled by our web presence, and we use it for accounting, billing, and of course informational purposes. As time went by, each chance I could get I would infuse another idea of how to do things better, easier, and cheaper by using our website. Thankfully the owners of the company, along with my boss of course, listened to me and the rest is history.
All I gotta say is, it’s nice to be recognized.
See you tomorrow when the fam invades the Zoo.
