Imogen Inbound

Tonight I’ll be hitting Sundown in the City where I’ll take in the wonderful music of Imogen Heap (pronounced Eye-moe-jen…at least, that’s how I pronounce it), a woman whose music I absolutely love.

She began in Frou Frou, a band I stumbled on when they remade “Holding Out For A Hero” on the Shrek 2 soundtrack (I know. Shut up.). After I devoured their excellent self-titled record, I then heard of a solo album from their lead singer whose name is tough to pronounce.

The song that kept being brought up was Hide and Seek. It’s made with a Vocorder and she does it acapella. And it is gorgeous. Her voice is glorious and the melody is incredible. It’s truly a watershed song—whenever I recommend Imogen, they have to like that song. If they don’t, they won’t like her at all.

For example, my new coworker/superfriend Dan loved it while the awesome folks over at the 'tumor did not. And that’s fine, it’s just a taste thing. Imogen has a very ‘pop’ flavor, so if you don’t dig that…your loss I guess.

As for me, it’s going to be my first live show in years.

Better yet? It’s going to rain. That should be all kinds of fun.
