Family Matters, Week of 5-7-06
Every Wednesday I write about my family. Welcome to it.
Annie (3yr old Rock Star)
Annie has mastered what I would don the “whine-get”.
“Get me some chocolate milk!”
“What do you say?”
“Please daddy?”
“After supper.”
She then shrieks and leans over in exertion. “Daddy pleeeease? It will make me so happy!”
“No honey, I told you after dinner.”
“Wah! Waaaaah! Pleeeeeease daddy, pleeeeease? It’ll make me so happy!” And on and on it goes. Rarely do I buckle. But that’s because I’m not around it every second of the day like my wife is, who gets it from both barrels (Abby learns fast).
Ah, parenting.
Abby (2yr old diva)
Abigail Riley has, for some reason, really warmed up to ole dad. Now I’m no SuperParent(tm), and there’s also the fact that I’m not around as much as Ericka’s constant presence, but for some reason she’s decided to call on me when she gets hurt, call on me when she gets in trouble, call on me to tuck her in or help her in the bathroom. Now I’m not complaining by any means (a child’s love is priceless, of course), but I’m trying to think of what I’ve done differently over the past few weeks that could cause his behavior.
What I’ve come up with: Absolutely nothing. But instead of trying to pinpoint it, I think I would rather just enjoy it.
Ericka (her myspace)
My wonderful wife had her weekend plans stolen away again…but this time by her own parents. They came down with an unfortunate case of The Sickness and couldn’t watch Abby this weekend. This meant that her late-night ghost hunting antics (which began around this time) were cut short. Ugh.
Otherwise, as with every Wednesday around the Erwin abode, my lovely wife is going out to do whatever she likes however she likes it. I believe tonight she’s going to go have dinner with a friend while I prepare dinner for my two princesses. Should be fun.
I want so much to open your eyes
Cos I need you to look into mine
