Family Matters, Week of 5-28-06

Every Wednesday I write about my family. Welcome to it.

Annie (3yr Old Wonderbread)

Coming to get you...This week we took Annie and her sister to their first water park. It’s not a huge ‘event’ park with a tide pool and three-story slides, but rather a public park that has a ‘water park’ section. A slab of concrete, sprinklers galore, “whale fish bones” that spurt water, etc (see picture for the layout). Nothing fancy, but the kids love it. Around and around she’d go.

The first time the whole family went but yesterday Ericka braved the trip alone with my niece and nephew. This one wasn’t quite as smooth.

Specifically?

“I turned my back for on her for just a second,” Ericka tells me, “then…poof, no more bathing suit.”

I’m sure Annie will proudly look back on that day, when the world met her shining white butt.

Abby (2yr Old Wizard)

Abigail has went completely, 100% cute on me. The way she says her words, the way she likes to hang out with ole dad, it’s just very…endearing. I mean, how else can you put it?

“Dere’s Mosey,” she says. Mosey is Smokey, the cat.

“I get on your knee?” she says while I’m sitting at the computer, working on Star Chamber.

She learns quick...“I’m sorry baby, daddy’s busy right now.”

She just stares and says, “I’ll get on your knee,” and begins climbing up.

Who am I to say no?

Now, as for her randomly whacking Annie upside the the head, we’ll just have to work on that one.

Ericka (her myspace)

My wonderful wife has done a stellar job this week. I mean, seriously, can you argue with a woman who on an average day:

– Gets you up in the morning
– Calls several times with updates, questions, and love
– Takes four children, two of them small enough to be ‘more than a handful’ to the water park
– Takes four children to the grocery store
– Returns and helps feed the children after I made supper
– Puts the little rascals to bed

The mind is truly boggled. And I am forever grateful to have such a hard working soul on my side.

Etc

The winner of Last Comic Standing is Josh Blue. You heard it here first. Palsy for the gold!

You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence
