Family Matters, Week of 5-21-06

Every Wednesday I write about my family. Welcome to it.

Annie (3yr Old Mastermind)

Vogue!Annie's 4th birthday party is coming up in a few weeks and she's pretty pumped about it. She's already picked out one of her gifts (a Cinderella dress) and told us the kind of cake she wants for her party (Ariel, from the Little Mermaid).

However, the problem is that Ericka is trying to coax her into some sort of 'castle' cake because she wants to make some sort of lopsided concoction. But Annie would have none of it. She's ready for her mermaid cake and ready for it now.

Random Cute Moment: I love the fact that Annie now knows what a family is and how she'll happily tell you about hers. Except she pronounces it fami-wee. Or should that be fami-wii?

"Me, Abby, Mommy and Daddy are a family," she says.

Damn skippy.

Abby (2yr Old Sleuth)

Who 'dat?Abigail has a mean streak, I'll tell you that. Last night she got into the "too tired" range and began screeching and wailing accordingly. The first little thing (such as you putting the blanket on her instead of Abby herself) would send her into a fit. Boy, that's fun.

Worse, however, is the viciousness of her treatment towards her sister. Yesterday I caught her red handed. Annie was in the doorway as Abby was leaving the bathroom. Annie tried to back up but it was too late--a shove was in order.

Which was then followed by a spanking. Who knows if this will deter such behavior (which I have no doubt was cultured by Annie anyway), but we can only hope.

Ericka (her myspace)

Here's looking at you, Mr. Digital Camera. My wonderful wife has decided to go back to the job market...well, okay, the same old job she was working because we're officially broke again. Me? I'm way too tired of finances. Life was so much simpler when my only bills were a car insurance payment and whatever DVDs I bought from Amazon.

So other than dreading her return to work, Ericka has also been planning Annie's cake (per above), and has been enjoying her mother's day present, Found. A very interesting book, from time to time she'll show me some stuff from it. All I gotta say is, it's just as sad, interesting, and exciting as the good ole PostSecret.

And that's definitely a compliment.

For me tomorrow is my first day
so please don?t tempt in the wrong way
