Family Matters, Week of 2-5-06

Every Wednesday I write about my family. Welcome to it.

This week’s entry is entirely dedicated to my wife, Ericka.

Thank you, Ericka, for taking care of me while I was writhing on the floor in pain.

Thank you, Ericka, for feeding and watching and parenting our little girls while I could not.

Thank you, Ericka, for doing all the things I could not and sending my ass back to the hospital when my foolish pride wouldn’t let me.

All of those little things, all day long, all week long. While she wouldn’t admit it at the time, she confided later that it damn near drove her insane. Single parenting with two kids running wild and a third sick husband means no downtime. No breaks. One of the kids or the husband will be wanting something. Help that was once there is gone. Someone you loved is hurting and by hurting they hurt you as well, only in a domestic way.

Anyway, for all of those things thank you. Thank you thank you! I love you dear.

As for the Mundane Details Of The Last Two Weeks With No Fam Updates, here are some tidbits:

– Annie is covered in scratches. She got another yesterday on her chin. She looks like she’s been tortured or something. “Annie, please stop terrorizing the cat.” is an oft-heard phrase amongst the household.

– Abby is gearing up for a “Big Girl Bed”. She desperately seeks life beyond the crib. Part of me think this is because she doesn’t want to go to sleep when it’s bedtime. I dunno.

– Abby’s part is a week from this Saturday. Those In The Know, that’s a reminder.

– Ericka is planning an amazing double-decker super jiggawatt Piggy Bank birthday cake for the party. I plan on showing up. Sounds pretty even to me.

– Thanks to my illness, Ericka had to change a flat tire on the SUV by herself. Luckily a guy was walking his dog or something and helped out. I felt really bad about that scenario and glad it worked out.

I’m all out of time. Craaazy busy today. I’m guessing I’ll be writing the finale to the Woodstock Story late tonight. Thanks for all the kind words while I wrote that huge monster. I can’t wait to finish it.

The CN Tower is built upon our bones!
The CN Tower will always be our home!
