Dear podcast and podcasting,

You made it. You finally made it! You’re word of the year. I knew you had it in you.

For a time there, it appeared that rootkit would steal your thunder. Sure gave Sony a hard time. That little bastard even spiked the punch to hopefully swing a few votes. But it wasn’t meant to be.

Over there, in the back, is sudoku, that silly 9–grid number game. Ever played that? It gives me a headache.

Munching on some chips at the bar is trans fat, words that have been in our lexicon for years, but haven’t hit the big time. It’s okay, they have comfort food to tide them over.

Somewhere amongst the wreckage is squick, which sounds like the noise you make when you really gotta take a crap and are trying to explain it to somebody. “Excuse me—” squick! “Gotta…use…the can…”

Raggaeton, some sort of hybrid between Raggae and Nobody Really Cares, stands behind the 3 Stooges, ICE, IDP, and IED, the other runners up. Nyuck, nyuck, goes ICE, while IDP pokes IED in the eyes and then slaps itself in the face.

With our vocabularly increased you may now go out into the world and begin to penetrate the hardest of constituents: The old people. Yes, those who catch on last are now your target. You’ll need to campaign veraciously, meet and greet and eat, and afterwards deliver an inspiring speech which will warm their hearts for generations to come.
