Family Matters, Week of 11-27-05
Every week I do a family rundown. Welcome to it.
Annie
Annie had what I would consider a very successful Thanksgiving. She was fawned over by family, she ate at least some of the food we gave her, and she almost poked her eye out. I mean, what is a get-together without some sort of overwrought drama?
Of course, this is the part where I get tagged as the person not sensitive to her feelings. What? If it bleeds, it leads as they say in the newscaster world. I’m kidding, of course. My little girl ran around the yard chasing her cousin with a stick (mistake #1) and at some point whacked herself in the eye with it (mistake numero dos). She rubbed it for a good long while, but that was about the extent of her injuries.
I’m just glad I was able to keep her out of the emergency room. Is this me being underprotective or just more of that ‘tough love’ vibe?
Abby
Abigail is a very funny little girl. Best of all, she now holds telephone conversations. Well, not conversations as you and I think, but those insanely cute pseudo-conversations that permeate the world of a 20 month old (don’t even make me say ‘Almost two year old’ because I will). These normally consist of her listening and nodding, throwing out a “wuv woo” and handing back the phone.
She also took some amazing pictures with her sister last week. We got them in the other day and wow will they shock and amaze you. Well, they shocked and amazed me but I’m biased. At the least, I can guarantee you’ll be smiling when you see them. That girl’s got the best grin ever.
Oh, and let’s not even pretend that those photos of Abby and her sister were taken together. I mean, seriously now. They can’t sit still while using the bathroom, let alone on that padded little stool.
Ericka (her blog)
My wife has gotten more praise from the restaurant manager for her incredible cheesecakes but she’s missing something—actual orders from the restaurant. You know, it’s really nice to hear great things about your work, truly, but it’s nicer to see something come of it. I already have the latter half, while my wife does not.
While she certainly receives encouragement of her own, it’s nice to see something more steady than onesy-twosey orders that come in from friends-of-friends (not that this isn’t appreciated, but still).
Anyway, more on this as it develops.
Etc
The Etc is I’m recovering from sickness And All That That Implies. Therefore I have few interesting links but will sure to have an extra helping next week.
Thanks for reading, you crazy cats.
