Family Matters, Week of 8-14-05
Phew, another week and another update. I hope you?re digging the Army Saga, I promise it has a great finale where I Learn Important Lessons and whatnot. Anyway, on to the fam!
Annie
Annie is getting mean and aggressive with her little sister. We?re trying our best to curtail it and not seem like The Evil Parents, but literally every time Abby looks like she?s having fun with something Annie is there to take it away. ?Let me have it Abby, let me have it Abby,? is an oft-heard phrase around the household with no signs of abating.
That?s not to say we?re not trying or that Annie is always tormenting her sister. Of course, she does still chase Abby around the house as mentioned last week (?I?m a Monster daddy, I?m a monster!? ?Well, Abby doesn?t like being chased by a monster, so quit it!?), so its a double-edged sword.
As I found out when my good bud Jeremy and his family came over, Annie has a serious problem with veggies. From what I hear this is a widespread problem amongst children (yes, sarcasm runs in the family on my mother?s side). She officially freaked out when I told her she was eating carrots, I didn?t care if she starved or not. Unfortunately she had already hit the chocolate milk pretty hard, so her belly felt full but she hadn?t actually eaten much of anything.
This minutia was brought to you by the letters W, T and F. She also gets no milk or drink of any kind until she?s finished her meal. Or at least until she can show to us she can actually eat something as well as drink fluids. More on this?as it develops.
Abby
Abby, or as I like to call her, Abby McAbberson, is just as cute and wonderful as ever, giggling as she goes. We went to the pool on Sunday, just me, Ericka and the kids, and Abby did a superb job of not yelling ?Out! Out!? until we were all ready to get out, not just the shortest of the bunch. It was nice to see her enjoying the water a bit, though when she finally gets old enough to use Floaties? it will be a great day. The big yellow monstrosity she has to glide around in is just no fun at all compared to the freedom that Annie enjoys.
I could go on about how she?s talking a little better here and there, and absolutely loving books (as does her sister), but I?ve covered these fairly well in the past.
Ericka
Ericka, my wonderful, devoted, and all-around amazing wife (you all obviously know which side my bread is buttered on, don?tcha?) did a fantastic job as the Erwin House Cleanathon 2005 Race. She cleaned up no less than 3 whole rooms, put up all sorts of junk, cleared out a huge mountain of unneeded correspondence (read: bills), and even broke out her mother?s newly-donated vacuum and put it to good use.
She should begin her Advanced Cake Classes soon, and with my mother?s big day coming up (yes, I know I haven?t mentioned it here yet?but I will), may even advance to the Expensive Cake Zone, where you may find the elusive Profit Monster. He?s hard to find, but oh so scrumptious. Just remove the bones first.
Etc
As a benefit to you, dear reader, I?ve actually began a little Bookmarks folder (you know, those things we used before XML feeds came along) full of links you might be interested in checking out. These are my picks for Stuff To Look At. I hope we all can agree they?re the good shite:

- Think Exist is awesome. Quotations for any project, and if you?re bored you can find plenty of inspiration.
- Colour Lovers (while British by its very spelling) is fantastic for web designers, room decorators and anyone looking for a color pallete. I like Blissful myself.
- Fiona Apple unleaked. While I blogged earlier about this album being shelved by Sony, it turns out to be Jon Brion (the original producer) getting back at Fiona for snubbing his arrangements. There is also a new song (and of course arrangements) on the new record, so I?m pretty excited to hear this one. Comes out in October I think (but can?t find the Amazon link).
- I wrote this entry using the Blogger for Word tool. If it comes out all messed up, blame them wouldja.
Summer has come and past

Look out Vanilla Ice, I'm a ColourLover, yeah! Thanks so much for posting that link. You don't know how many crappy sites I dig through (ok maybe you do) to find complementary colors and their respective HTML codes.
That site is gonna see my IP address a LOT in their stats.
