Bitter Pills

Wow, I can?t really explain what happened last weekend. The word ?bust? just doesn?t describe it.

It?s like Lady Luck took a greasy shit on our hopes and dreams. Yes, it was that bad. Every single one of my friends who tagged along, three total, scrubbed out in everything we tried. We couldn?t win a game, we couldn?t win a side tournament (my most embarrassing moment), we couldn?t find any good deals at the Comic-con.

Who knew there was so much Sailor Moon porn? Honestly.

Anyway, yesterday I stayed home and licked my wounds. I also decided to write off the Regionals attempt as mere frivolity, a bump on the road to the Pro Tour. I guess I need to stay in a more familiar format, because constructed just doesn?t seem to like me at the moment.

The event was fun, but after much consideration we didn?t even spend Saturday night in Charlotte. We had lost enough money on tournaments and our disenfranchisement from our terrible performances led to everyone being ready to go home. Next thing I know I?m damn near nodding off on I-40, so we stop and pick up caffeine.

Not just caffeine, mind you, but a huge cappucino and some sort of ?Energy Booster? (read: Caffeine Pills) 4?pack. I took two, and so did my friend Chris who stayed up to talk to me so I wouldn?t kill everyone in the process of driving home.

This, as I soon found out, was a pretty terrible idea.

I got home around 1AM and one by one the boys went back home. I felt pretty good until it was time to go to sleep. Then I began to feel ?funny.?

Why is it when you feel funny you never laugh?

The next thing I know my heart is beating in some strange feverish rhythm, and I can?t catch my breath. It appears I just had heart palpatations and I?m guessing we all know the perpetrators of this one. I?d never taken caffeine pills before, and let me assure I don?t think I?ll be doing it in the future either. After a few terrifying moments the feeling passed and everything went back to normal, but the very fact that it happened at all made me skittish of any sort of supplement in the future.

I think next time I?ll just take a nap. Or, based on my luck this time, I may be better off by staying home.

Anyway, time to get caught up around here. Until tomorrow, be sure to check out Jim?s excellent blog, and his new addition, the photoblog (also called phlogs). He has also borrowed my Family Matters template, and has done it proud. I think we have ourselves a great blogger in the making.

Can we pretend to leave and then
We?ll meet again, when both our cars collide
