Family Matters, Week of 5-9-05
Yes readers and readettes, it?s your favorite time of the week: The Family Matters post. I know you?ve been anxiously waiting to hear about Potential Toddler Disasters, so let?s get started:
Annie
Annie is super jazzed about going to the circus, which apparently is All New after 134 years of existence. That has to be a feat not accomplished by many. Anyway, the best part is when you mention it, you get the following spiel:
?We?re going to go to the circus! And I?m gonna see elephants, and tigers, and fishies!? Despite my retort of their being no gill-breathers in attendance, Annie proceeds to jump and run and scream about how she?s going to the circus to see elephants, tigers, and fish.
She?ll be making an apperance at said circus on Sunday, so I hope our seats aren?t as bad as I think they are (3rd balcony? Argh?)
Abby
My dear Abigail has learned quite a few things over this past week. For example, a loud grunt and ear-piercing scream will get you the following:
- Attention
- Attention
- A usually angry ?Quit that,? complete with pointless explanation to a toddler that there is ?No need to scream.?
- Attention
So with this information at hand, she uses her lungs regularly to make sure she is included in any activities that others are doing. This includes Annie going to the potty, teeth brushing, and the evening poem readings. With the latter she?s still a bit too young to get into it, but hopefully that will remedy itself in time. We can only hope, right?
Ericka (her blog)
Ericka, listening directly to the beat of her own drum (which currently includes the furious and goodtime beats of Ringside), attended her Sugarbakers class last night and returned full of information and flavorings only available to students in said class.
Of course, it may be flavorings Joe Sixpack could buy off the shelf in the store, but where?s the dramatic pull in that? Exactly.
Anyway, she continues to bake the most wonderful creations and just yesterday did a whirlwind cleanup around the house. I, of course, did my best to immediately dirty it up again. That?s just how we roll around the Erwin household: She?s a saint, I?m a bumbling do-gooder. You know, like a broken down superhero. I digress.
I wish we had had the funds to have made her Mother?s Day a bit more, ah, mothery, but we did get down to Morristown to see my mom, aunt (congratulations to the now Dr. Joy Collinsworth!), and grandmother. That was nice. I?m very lucky to have my own mother and grandmother around, all the while watching one of the best moms ever take care of my two young?uns. Good stuff.
Etc.
Ah, and here comes the rambling. Firstly, I had no idea that my cousin-in-law had a blog. Holy cow! This is quality stuff, and in particular its from a guy I know and respect. Immediatley added to my ?Friends and Fam? Onfolio folder, I suggest you add him to whatever magical newsreader you subscribe to. Luckily he replied to a couple of posts, and is now on my radar. Jim, you have been warned!
A few random thoughts before I quit: One, the Contender is some of the best TV I?ve seen in a long time, and speaking of, thank your chosen diety that The Dead Zone is coming back in June, and for some damn reason Harry Shearer's Huffington Post blog has no RSS feed. That is lame as hell. Rage, rage against the dying of HTML!
I know there ain?t nothing out there
But I?m still afraid to turn on the light

Hi Evan,
Thanks for your compliments and advertisement of the Outpost. It's been fun putting it together and a little theraputic. There is something liberating about putting your personal life on display. :-)
Next time we get together, I want to hear more about the BlogNashville event you attended.
I've been using the Picasa software to publish my pics automatically (integrated with Hello and Blogger) and as a result, I have yet another reason to believe that GOOGLE IS THE BEST DAMN COMPANY ON THE PLANET!
Eh, ahem.
Sorry 'bout that. I'm kind of passionate about Google.
