Family Matters, Easter Week

Hello again everyone, as promised here is the Patented Family Update (tm):

Annie

Annie is as Annie does, and this generally involves her being mean, me getting a call at work ("You need to come get your daughter.") and then things calming down. Unfortunately this happens quite often, and I try to console my dear wife from not going insane. Have you ever seen a living space after two toddlers get done with it?

Another thing that Annie is very much into these days is telling me about her day or thing's she's seen. "I saw a robot," she'll say, and then she'll tell me about said robot. "It was tall, and big, and scary!" And then I'll remind her that those things aren't real, the robot she's worrying about is ran on batteries (and lives at the mother-in-laws house, aka "Nana"), but that doesn't stop her from starting the conversation over again.

Abby

Abby is just sweetness in a bottle. Of course this won't last (something I learned with Annie), but for right now she is giggles and smiles and though she can't speak, she understands most of what we say. Ericka gave me an example: "Abby, bring mama the remote," she said, and Abby walked across the living room, picked up the remote, and gave it to her. Very cool stuff.

Ericka (her blog)

Lastly Ericka came through in a big way over Easter, complete with beautiful/adorable dresses for the girls and a stellar cheesecake. And I don't mean the no-bake kind, I mean the made-from-scratch yes-even-the-crust kind. She crushed the graham crackers and she mixed up the ingredients and that thing made it through two different Easter family get-togethers and we still had some left over! That's what I'm talkin about :)

Otherwise, our Easter weekend went pretty smoothly with only myself getting an injury. Here's a tip: Never run after a small child if you might lose your balance and land smack-down into the dirt on your shoulder. Ow.

I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself
